About the Inn

Bed & Breakfast

This restored, turn of the century inn, dates back to 1884. At one time The Babcock House was the boyhood home of nationally known author, Dr. Havilah Babcock. Curious about the Babcocks and the Civil War? Click here!

The inn features five bedrooms and one suite, all furnished with period antiques. You will truly feel you have taken a step back in time as you enter The Babcock House. All the rooms have private baths and cable television. Our inn has central air conditioning to insure your comfort.  Room rates include a full breakfast.

Relax in the evening on one of our verandas and enjoy the glorious setting and comfortable elegance of the Babcock House, while feeling as comfortable as you would at your own home. Can non guests partake in the evening meal and, if so, are reservations required?

    1. Talia says:

Absolutely, our restaurant is open to the public Wed-Sat 4-8 for dinner and Sundays 11-3 for brunch. We welcome reservations, but they are not necessarily required. We do often fill up on weekends, especially when there are special events going on in town like festivals and theater productions, so those are good times to call ahead.

What a wonderful experience! My wife and I traveled to the Appomattox area for birthday/anniversary and found the perfect place to stay. Talia and Charles are great hosts and made us feel right at home. The room was clean and spacious and had everything that we needed. The meals were excellent from breakfast to dinner. Very good location to visit Appomattox, Lynchburg, and the D-Day memorial in Bedford. Will try and make it back during the fall. Thanks again.
